Leaded by old Do...。从高中起就开始在一起的木崎直人（滝沢秀明饰）和木崎时子（深田恭子饰）一直跟一帮不良少年厮混在一起，过着游手好闲的日子。直到时子未婚先孕，两人开始了窘困而艰辛的生活。 不久，长子直也出生，此后次子亮也也来到人世，使得这个一贫如洗的家庭更加捉襟见肘。时子不得已靠帮人做便当补贴家用，而直人却沉迷于赌博游戏机的世界里。令这个小家庭更加雪上加霜的是，刚满五岁的直也居然检查出罕见的小儿癌症。幼小的直也从此开始了漫长而痛苦的治疗过程。然而反复发作的病情，让直也挣扎在生与死的边缘。曾经疏离不合的一家人，终于紧紧地站在一起。直人和时子拼命地支持着儿子直也，与病魔展开了顽强的搏斗。。
