城中首富之子李望峰涉及一宗交通事故顶包案，一夜之间成为全城热门话题。唯一目击证人孟子良却一直否认目睹肇事经过，表现心虚胆怯，似乎有所隐瞒。卧底探员刘梦龙与孟子良是儿时好友，梦龙利用自己与子良从小相识的身份着手调查此案。子良十分疼爱妹妹孟子君，她天生患有严重眼疾，子君希望在自己完全失去视力之前能够看见哥哥达成愿望成为明星，子良为此参选《中国好男儿》。同时，子良居然获得某名导演的赏识，邀请他到外国演出其新片，但拍摄日期却是顶包案件的出庭日期。这一切原来都是幕后黑手安排，而且似乎另有图谋……。A film version of a play Fassbinder directed in Hamburg, Clare Booth Luce's "The Women".
